DVD evaluation

Is the DVD dead?

YES, because there are so much more alternatives to DVDs. for example the online streaming.
companies like Lovefilm and Netflix came up with this idea of sharing latest movies and tv series online on their website as soon as it comes on DVDs in high quality. that way people can enjoy the same experience only cheaper. this is called cloud computing.

The other alternative is downloading. since the average internet speed is increase compared to for example 10 years ago, it is ideal to download the content we want which is also legal. for example users more likely want to have the latest music, movies, tv shows and video game. I surely can say that consumer purchase their favorite content through internet or they stream online.

we are currently experiencing a whole new era of consuming media products. to prove my point in a easy way I am going to talk about shops like hmv and blockbusters.
people just don't have time to go through long shops, because they know what they want, and also by storing the data online they don't have to worry about storing the dvd’s because they take alot of space. that is the reason these stores are loosing their market. companies like apple (with itunes), google (google play), amazon (Lovefilm) are taking their markets in whatever.
their app is compatible on all iOS, andrroid mobie phones and tablets and smart TVs and gaming console. so everyone can have access to them with internet connection.

some people still prefer to buy or rent their dvd’s because they are not familiar with the online technology or they think if they physically buy their movies or whatever their purchase is more secure.

I predict that this is also going to change in 1 or 2 years time, because dvd’ are not popular amongst young people who were mainly purchasing. in one day everyone must update themselves to this technology because since dvd is not getting the money that it used to get before companies decide to stop making them because they are not selling.

I personally can not identify any positive future for hard copies like dvd. however it is much more easier to use for people who don’t really use computer in their life. you will need a dvd player which you can have as cheap as £20. and as soon as you insert  the dvd you will get a simple menu that enables you to use dvd features. for example adding subtitles in selected language or changing the sound format. usually DVDs also contain a special feature which can be a behind the scene or deleted scenes.

My coclusion is this: because people are a lot busier than before and in this tough economic climate consumers automatically would want to get what it wants with spending less time and money. For this reason I think DVD’s are going to die.

Final project images

I choose to do my final project on cars since it is one of my hobbies and I would like to think that I know something about them. There was this BMW concept I saw on BMW's channel on youtube a few years ago. I found out that particular model is here in London (because there is only one of that model in the world) so I went to BMW's dealer and they kindly let me do whatever I wanted to do.

If I had the opportunity to do this task again I would do something about the reflection since the material of the car is glass and the paint is shiny. Also I would do different lightings with a simpler background.
I would also do a burst shot of the doors opening, since they open vertically.

Since I have already seen pictures of this car and I tried to do the same type of photos. I think my photos would be suitable for car magazines such as autocar.

Light painting

To produce this image I put the shutter on ... and spinned around my torch.

For these two photo I used the same settings, but changed my prop to a lighter.
I used a coloured app on my phone to create this image and I pressed the shutter button whilst shaking the phone and also moving it from left to right.
In order to create this photo I flashed the LED light of my phone and I moved it in a M shape.

Rule of third

Splitting the screen both horizontally and  vertically into three different areas. What we have to do is capture the item which is placed in one of those boxes created by the lines or it's got to be on the point where the lines cross each other.
In these photos as you can see I have followed the same concept. so the Boat, BBQ, the sun and the baby are in the boxes created by the imaginary lines.

Mind map + Mood board

A photo I love

I have picked this photo of a Queen's guard because I thought people might think of them when they are in London. The lighting is natural on a cloudy day. This is better because the light is not concentrated in a spot.

Unfortunately I hit a series of issues for this task. I couldn't get close to the soldier the and I also did not have the lens that zoomed in enough. What I did was I took a photo and I cropped it to make it look like the original one.

Framing

In this type of photography I used a physical objects my frame and I tried to get a nice view in that frame. (exposure value:1/320) (F number: 9)

Shutter Zoom

In order to achieve this kind of image, I lowered the shutter speed and I put my lens into manual focus mode. Then I zoomed in to my object whilst pressing the shutter button and I place) the camera on a monopod so it's stabilised. (exposure value:1/15) (Fnumber: 4

Blurred Fast Motion

Here the moving object is blurred but the background is in focus. In this case the car is moving at high speed from where I am so it is blurred. This is happening because the shutter speed is fast. (exposure value: 1/30) (F number: 14)

Panning Shots

In these photos I have followed the object so that I can focus on it. And as you can see the background is blurred out because I was moving at high speed. (exposure value: 1/60) (Fnumber: 18)
